Rashida manjoo violence against women around the world trends challenges and solutions
Rashida Manjoo was the United Nations' Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women until July 2015. She was appointed in June 2009. In June 2015 the Human Rights Council appointed Dr. Dubravka Šimonović as the new Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women.

A South African national, Manjoo is a professor in the Department of Public Law at the University of Cape Town. She has served as the Parliamentary commissioner on South Africa's Commission on Gender Equality, the Des Lee Distinguished Visiting Professor at Webster University, and the Eleanor Roosevelt Fellow with Harvard Law School's Human Rights Program.
