Rashi Mal is an Indian actress, working in Film, Web-series, TVCs, theatre and TV. She is also a professionally trained dancer and singer. She started her acting career on stage working with a lot of renowned theatre directors. She got her major break with the role of 'Gauri Laada' in the youth based mini series "Paanch- Five Wrongs Makes a Right" on Channel V for which she received much critical acclaim. She has starred in several popular web series and ad campaigns. She will next be seen in the upcoming film "Sir" [an Indo-French production] co starring Vivek Gombar (of Court fame) and Tillotama Shome. She sang the song "Buri Buri" for the film Dear Maya starring Manisha Koirala and was a company member of choreographer Ashley Lobo's dance company, The Danceworx.

Career

Rashi is an IT Engineer by qualification and has a Diploma in method acting from the Jeff Goldberg Studio . She has also attended summer programs in film making at New York Film Academy, Musical Theatre at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and songwriting at Berklee College of Music .
She has worked extensively on stage from an early age with leading names in the industry such as Makrand Deshpande, Sunil Shanbag, Hidayat Sami and Divya Palat. Her first film titled 'Sir' (currently in post production) is an Indo French production co starring Vivek Gombar(of Court fame) and Tillotama Shome. In the web space ,she has worked as the lead in renowned theatre director/actor Akarsh Khurana's series "Boygiri" for Balaji's ALT. She essays the role of Abby/Abigail in "A.I.SHA -My Virtual Girlfriend" [1] [ Arre ] and will now be seen in "Time Out", an original Voot series costarring Tahir Raj Bhasin. She has many TVCs to her credit including Lays, Acer, Closeup and Voonik with Farah Khan. She has also worked on MTV Rush with Mr Bejoy Nambiar, Love By Chance directed by Danish Aslam, MTV Webbed and other episodics. She has starred in the Channel V mini- series "Paanch" playing Gauri Laada , for which she received a lot of praise and played one of the leading parts in the 17 episode series, Gulmohar Grand, on Star Plus.

Rashi is a professionally trained dancer and has trained in Jazz,Contemporary,Ballet,Salsa,Bachata,Merengue, HipHop and Bollywood.She has been part of the company (as teacher,choreographer and performer) at The Danceworx run by dancer/choreographer Ashley Lobo. She has trained under Mr Kaytee Namgyal learning Salsa and Bachata at the Salsa India Dance company and was part of their pro team performing at festivals.She has also trained with dancer/choreographer Sandeep Soparrkar in Salsa and Merengue.
Rashi is also a singer and has formally trained in western classical based singing with Ms Deirdre Lobo D'Cunha, a renowned concert artist and vocal coach based out of California. She is currently training in contemporary music with Ms Samantha Edwards. She sang the song "Buri Buri" for the Manisha Koirala starrer "Dear Maya". She serves as the song writer and singer for Sacchi Savitris [2] [3] [with Culture Machine ], a two piece band with singer and composer Vasuda Sharma.
She has some experience with direction(short films/plays) and writing(plays/cartoons) as well. Her first short film won an international award, in a competition held by the brand HP.
Paanch - Five Wrongs Make a Right
Paanch - Five Wrongs Makes a Right is a Channel V mini series where Rashi Mal was seen playing the character of Gauri Laada, a bike riding gang leader who is smart, beautiful, power hungry and dominating. The show touched the very serious topic of ragging and was very well received. Rashi had gone to audition for another part in another project but landed the role in Paanch instead by sheer coincidence. Rashi received rave reviews for her performance from the audience.
