Ranjit Uyangoda is a Sri Lankan diplomat who served as Sri Lankan Ambassador to Japan and is now Sri Lankan Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.

Early life

Ranjit Uyangoda comes from Kandy. He graduated from the University of Peradeniya.

Diplomatic career

Ranjit Uyangoda, who is from the 1985 batch of the Sri Lanka Overseas Service, prior to his diplomatic positions was the additional Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs was in charge of Overseas Administration Service, as well as the UN Multi-lateral Affairs, Economic Affairs, Public Communication, South Asia. In 1987 he was posted as the Third Secretary to the Sri Lankan High Commission in Malaysia.

From 1998 to 2003 he was the UN Deputy Permanent Representative and from 2005 to 2009 he was the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Japan.

He succeeded Ambassador Karunatilaka Amunugama who is now Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
