Rajeev Agarwal is an entrepreneur and the Founder and CEO of MAQ Software. Prior to founding MAQ Software in 2000, he worked at Microsoft Corporation, Redmond for seven years in various product marketing groups. He was a finalist for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2010) award. He has been widely quoted on software industry topics in the media including the Seattle Times, Puget Sound Business Journal, and BBC. He also serves on the board of the Indian Institute of Technology, USA Alumni Association. Random House in India has published "What I Did Not Learn at IIT" book authored by him.

Education

Rajeev Agarwal holds a B. Tech. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, a Master's in Engineering from Iowa State University, Iowa, US, and an MBA from the University of Michigan Business School, Ann Arbor, Michigan, US.

Career

After graduating with an engineering degree from IIT, he migrated to Iowa State University to earn a Master's in Engineering. After working for three years for Frigidaire (A division of Sweden based AB Electrolux), he left his full-time job to do MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, Ann Arbor.

He then joined Microsoft Corporation, where he held various product management responsibilities for several products including Visual C++, Windows and Exchange Server. At Microsoft Corporation, his responsibilities included product planning, marketing strategy and advertising for products ranging in annual revenue from $50 million to $5 billion.

Rajeev Agarwal is an active member of the Seattle entrepreneur community. He is a Charter member of the Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE-Seattle.org) and a member of the Entrepreneur Organization.

Personal life

He grew up in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a small town in north India. Despite having limited educational facilities he got admission in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He is married to Arpita Agarwal, principal consultant at MAQ Software.

Philanthropy

Rajeev Agarwal and his wife have set up a non-profit organization in India which provides funds to people in his home town. Their efforts over the years have helped over five thousand low income girls (living on less than $1 a day) get access to better educational facilities.
