Rajagiri National Business Quiz, popularly known as Rajagiri NBQ, is the quiz conclave of Rajagiri Centre for Business Studies, Cochin. A major highlight of its management fest INFLORE, Rajagiri NBQ took shape in 2010 and has continued to grow in the subsequent years where it provides a concrete platform for various teams to showcase their skill and knowledge. Rajagiri National Business Quiz sees the best quizzing minds of the country. It creates an environment of high completion between the corporates and students and offers a separate forum for both. Being one of the most sought after quizzing event in the country. Rajagiri is all geared up to host its seventh edition of Rajagiri National Business Quiz this year.

Growth and Inception

Rajagiri Centre for business studies is one among the pioneer institutions in management education in South India. Ranked among the top B-schools in the country Rajagiri strives relentlessly towards excellence in both academic and extra- curricular activities. The CMI fathers who run this institution aim at chartering new systems of high quality in the field of education.[1] Apart from Rajagiri the CMI fathers manage over 500 educational institutions across the country. Rajagiri has an impressive track record for producing the best minds of today and this is reflected in the quizzing event, Rajagiri NBQ.

RAJAGIRI NBQ which began its journey in 2010, is one of the most successful, fully student driven quiz events of the country. Over the years its quality began to attract participants from around the country and successfully established itself as the quiz conclave that brings corporate and students together and enable battle of the best. Though it started with a common prize for both categories, separate allocation was brought in gradually. Rajagiri NBQ drew a footfall of over 1500 registrations to compete with the trivia knowledge to earn around 3.7 lakhs cash prize in its 6th edition. Yearly choice of unique theme, well organized by a group of proficient and fervent students adds to its value. The first five editions of Rajagiri NBQ was hosted by the quiz master, Mr. Rohit Nair from Quiz works while the sixth edition was taken over by Mr. Mitesh Agarwal, Vice President and CTO Oracle India.

Rajagiri NBQ 2015

The theme for Rajagiri NBQ,2015 was World Domination(Risk),which is an exciting board game combining the classic elements of trivia, travel and money in one entertaining game. The game revolves around eliminating your opponents by conquering their territory and overthrowing them. Similarly Rajagiri National Business Quiz, 2015 was a riveting quiz game where the players battled for the ultimate victory. To be the ultimate winner the players had to dominate over several regions of knowledge like finance, current affairs, international knowledge, corporate knowledge, etc. This year’s winners emerged from TCS, Chennai and Osmania Medical College from corporate and student sections respectively who took away Rs. 1 Lakh each.

Rajagiri NBQ 2014

With the game of monopoly, Rajagiri National Business Quiz received nationwide acclaim for having over 600 registrations from both corporate and student category in this edition.[2] Sixteen teams were handpicked to the semi-finals on the basis of their prelims performance. This year saw separate sections for both corporates and students with separate prize money of Rs 1, 00,000 awarded to the first prize winners and Rs 50,000 for the second prize. Genpact nabbed the prize money in the corporate section and Christ University in the student’s section.[3][4] K.G. Girish Babu, (CEO, Technopark, Kerala) was the chief guest for this year. The nationwide participation of well-known corporates and leading management institutions made Rajagiri NBQ 2014 a grand success.

Rajagiri NBQ 2013

The 2013 Rajagiri NBQ which revolved around the game of Cards, received over 800 registrations from both corporate and students. The quizmaster Mr. Rohit Nair managed 16 teams, who had cleared the prelims and got themselves into the finals. Oracle won the first position followed by TCS with a prize of Rs.75, 000, SIMC Pune with Rs.50, 000 and Christ University Bangalore with Rs 30,000. Mr. S Ravi Shankar, (General Manager of main event partner - Lakshmi Vilas Bank) presided over the event.

Rajagiri NBQ 2012

Rajagiri National Business Quiz, 2012 went nationwide with a change of format from a single event to five events. Mr. Rohit Nair piloted the quiz in the new format consisting of three online prelims, zonal for students in Guwahati, Hyderabad and Chennai, offline prelims, Semi-finals and Finals. TCS Chennai won the 1st Prize of Rs. 1, 00,000 for the second year running defending their title and Oracle, Bangalore was the runner up with a prize money worth Rs. 50,000. 2012 witnessed around 500 teams.

Rajagiri NBQ 2011

Rajagiri National Business Quiz 2011 was conducted in the valley campus on 19 November 2011.The quiz was conducted in the same format as the preceding year. TCS, Chennai bagged the 1st prize of Rs1, 00,000 followed by Symbiosis Law School, Pune winning Rs. 50,000.

Rajagiri NBQ 2010

The first ever Rajagiri National Business Quiz was launched in 30 October 2010.The quiz had 3 rounds –prelims, semi-finals and finals which was overseen by the quiz master Mr. Rohit Nair. The competition was intense between the corporates and the students to win the much sought after prize of Rs 1, 00,000 and Rs 50,000 for first and second prize respectively. Cognizant Technologies (CTS), Bangalore walked away with Rs 1, 00,000 victory and the second prize of Rs 50,000 was bagged by CET, Trivandrum. Mr. Ravi Shankar, (General Manager of main event partner - Lakshmi Vilas Bank) was the chief guest for the event. The massive response received from top corporates and the leading educational institutions in the country made Rajagiri National Business Quiz 2010 a roaring success paving the way for the quizzes that were yet to come.

Media and Publicity

RAJAGIRI NBQ is one of the most anticipated quizzing events of the country and often showcases the management skill of Rajagirians in general. The fest has attracted a large amount of coverage from the electronic and print-media. CNN-IBN being its media partner for the last five editions Rajagiri NBQ has attracted considerable media attention. Times Now was the media partner for the sixth edition of the event. Numerous articles have appeared about Rajagiri NBQ in various newspapers all over India.

Recognition

Featuring a wide range of quality arrows that test the mettle of top B-School and corporate brains, RNBQ was rated among the top 3 most popular events in India by Dare2Compete in 2012.

Rounds

RNBQ is a team based contest with two participants per team and is held in 2 laps. Corporate and campus representatives who qualify the prelims (online/offline) enter into the final lap. The second lap, the national finals is held for Campus students and corporate separately. Ten editions of RNBQ have been held so far to enthusiastic response.

Every year many esteemed personalities of different fields from around the country are invited as guests of honor. Some of the prominent guests to participate in the event are K.G. Girish Babu, (CEO, Info park), Mr. S Ravi Shankar, (General Manager - Lakshmi Vilas Bank).
