Raja Makutam or Rajamakutam (King's Sceptre) is a 1960 Telugu film directed by veteran B. Narasimha Reddy. The film was produced by Vauhini Studios and simultaneously made in Tamil.

Plot

While he was attending a festival,.the King of Gandhara was killed by his younger brother who is also the commander of the army. He also sends all those loyal to the king to prison. The prince, who is away at that time, comes to know about his father's death and returns to the kingdom. He was attacked by soldiers on the way and he is wounded. While he is unconscious, a girl takes him to the palace on her cart. The girl's brother is working in the palace and she was going to meet her brother. The commander orders that all prisoners be executed. He says the order is from the prince. The girl's brother is also executed and she gets angry with the prince. The prince comes to know that it was his uncle who gave the order in his name and wants to punish the uncle. But his mother, the queen, advises him not to take any action because he (the uncle) is in full control of the army and the palace. How the prince restore normalcy forms the rest of the story.
