Personal life

He's the 4th of the 5 legendary Sidek brothers who played badminton on the international scene. Rahman and his siblings gained exposure about badminton sport from their father, Haji Mohd Sidek. Rahman Sidek is the alumnus of Victoria Institution (batch 1978-1982).

Junior years

He entered the state team when he was 11. He picked up the sport because following the footsteps of his brothers. In 1977, he was national junior (MSSM) champion under 12. He was also under 18 national champion (MSSM) with his brother Rashid. At 18 years old after high school, he was drafted to the national squad. At the junior stage, he was concentrating on singles but he played both categories. Few years later, BAM forced him to play doubles since there's not enough doubles players.

Career

He is an international doubles player during the late 1980s to early 1990s. He managed to win a number of international title such as the Canadian Open and German Open with partner Ong Ewe Chye (Ong Ewe Hock's brother). In 1990, won the men's doubles title at the World Grand Prix Final. Rahman Sidek was a member in the winning team at the Thomas Cup 1992. He retired because his partner quit the sport and the national management forces him to become a coach for the national doubles team.
