Controversy

On 24 June 2013, the Dutch news blog GeenStijl posted a video in which Baldassarre was seen checking in at the European Parliament to claim a 304 euro daily expenses fee, leaving immediately afterwards. When confronted about his doings, Baldassarre became aggressive. This expenses fee, the so-called "subsistance allowance" for MEPs, is controversial because it is paid without any proof of expenditure.
