Albot has so far won five singles and eight doubles Challenger titles in his career as well as fourteen singles and seven doubles Futures titles and one ATP World Tour doubles title. He has been a regular member of the Moldova Davis Cup team since 2007.

Tennis career

Albot has achieved a number of firsts for a Moldovan professional tennis player. In September 2013 he won the ATP Challenger event in Fergana, Italy, becoming the first player from his country to win an ATP Challenger tournament. At the 2014 US Open in Flushing, N.Y. he won three straight matches in the Men's Qualifying Tournament to gain a berth in the main draw, becoming the first Moldovan to play in the main draw of a Grand Slam Tournament. He qualified for Wimbledon in 2016 and won his first Grand Slam match in 4 attempts, defeating Gastao Elias of Portugal in the first round. He lost in the second round to #19 seed Bernard Tomic of Australia in 4 sets.

In May, 2015 he teamed with Dusan Lajovic of Serbia to win the doubles title at the inaugural Istanbul Open in Istanbul, Turkey, becoming the only Moldovan to win any ATP World Tour level event. At the 2015 French Open he partnered with Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic and reached the Quarter Finals of the doubles tournament.

His ATP worldwide singles ranking of No. 99 on August 3, 2015 made him the first Moldovan to break into the top 100. He achieved a career high ranking of No. 85 on August 24, 2015.

In 2015 he won the Kolkata Challenger and reached the final in Furth, qualifying for the ATP Challengers Tour Finals in São Paulo, Brazil with a ranking of No. 5 in the 8 player field.

In 2016 Albot entered the US Open but was defeated by Serbia's Viktor Troicki in the first round.
