Qumak

History

The beginnings of the company dates back to second half of the 80s. In 1985 a company which manufactured and repaired electronic devices was created. In December 1997 the company was registered as Sekom S. A.

PHP Quamak Sp. z o.o was established in 1988. At first it sold computers and offered maintenance service. In July 1990 it opened a first computer and gadgets shop in the centre of Cracow. For further development, the company needed financial assets. Polish-American Enterprise Fund (PAEF), first venture capital fund, offered its support. As a result of arrangement made between the fund and the company, a joint venture company Qumak International Sp. z o.o. was set up in 1990/9.

In 1998 Sekom S.A. in agreement with Qumak International Sp. z o.o. created Sekom Group. It consisted also of two smaller companies: Blue-Bridge Sp. z o.o. and Gandalf Polska Sp z o.o.Thanks to the cooperation of entitites specialized in various IT industries (security systems, video conferences systems) the group became an IT integrator with wide offer of services.

In 2002 the companies belonging to Sekom Group merged into one entity, Qumak-Sekom S.A. The new company became one of the most powerful Polish IT companies. The headquarters was located in Warsaw, in addition the company the held also a big branch in Cracow and offices in Bielsko Biała, Gdańsk, Radom and Poznań. The company's structure was based on three areas: integration, IT and building automation.

On 3 August 2006 Qumak-Sekom S.A. was quoted on Warsaw Stock Exchange.

In September 2012 the company adopted a new strategy for years 2013-2016. Its offer was adjusted in order to eliminate the least viable and least prospective lines of business. In January 2013 the company registered a new, shortened name and since then it has been operating as Qumak S.A. Currently, it has headquarters in Warsaw and branches in two cities, in Cracow and a smaller one in Gdańsk.

In 2013 the company created Research and Development Department, strengthening its cooperation with research and scientific sectors.

In 2015 the company celebrated the 30th anniversary of its activity.

Solutions

Qumak designs, executes and provides service of ICT projects for private and public sector. The company offers solutions in the following technology areas:

Business Intelligence & Big Data – the company designs, builds, implements and maintains solutions from the categories: data warehouse, power supply processes ETL/ELT, Big Data applications, Business Intelligence applications, planning applications and Data Mining. Qumaks’ strategic partners in this business area are: IBM and Oracle.
2. Business Continuity & Data Security – Qumak enable and secure a process of storing, processing and transmitting data in business environments of clients. In this area company offers number of services:

22. Infrastructure, maintenance and service management (EAM & ITSM) – the company implements solution of EAM class and offers tools of help desk class (ITSM), which have a full set of functions that support managing IT infrastructure and service of key IT processes in compliance with ITIL practices and ISO 27001. Main partner of Qumak in this area is IBM.
23. Data Center - Qumak constructs Data Center facilities fulfilling the role of general contractor of an investment. Company performs feasibility study, design, build, equip with IT infrastructure, provide service, as well as provide services of relocation and collocation of DC facilities.
24. Building automation – the company offers services of consulting, design and conducting investments related to integrated systems of facilities security and multimedia communication systems.
25. Intelligent Transportation System - Qumak realize comprehensively ITS by undertaking execution of all stages of an investment process, among others: implementation and launch of specialist software, systems and infrastructure integration in the road, e.g. traffic lights control. In this business area strategic partners of Qumak SA are: GEVAS, PTV, ESRI, Bosch, GMV, IBM, HP, Cisco, Microsoft and Oracle.
26. Airport Automation – Qumak is realizing systems of aviation operation management and solutions for airports. The company builds environments for aviation operation basing on systems of checking-in and security of passengers and airplanes. Qumak offers systems of navigation lights and to control them, radio-navigation, automatic systems of luggage and passenger information. Qumak cooperates with more than 40 partners in airport automation area, among others: Idman, Lucebit, ADB, Dimark, Eaton, Schneider Electric-Telvnet, Selex Gematronik, INDRA Sistemas, Boschung Mecatronic AG, Smiths Detection, Logan.
27. Multimedia Exhibitions – Qumak offers a set of services of design, production, implementation, maintenance and development of exhibitions with a particular emphasis on multimedia and interactive technologies for the needs of museums, science centers, education. These technologies are also commercially used in large public spaces: shopping malls, train stations, airports, fair exhibitions.
28. Outsourcing of IT services – the company provide services covering delivery of IT employees and IT outsourcing. Apart from recruitment and selection Qumak provides human resources, administrative and legal care for all leased employees.
29. Desktop Management Services – the company offers set of services, which guarantee fluent operation of IT systems of a company. Among others Qumak leases devices, also with warehouse of replacement devices in case of failure and performs extensions, migrations and mutation of services. In this area Qumak is a partner of: Juniper, Cisco, F5, CheckPoint, Huawei and Microtic.
