History
The company was co-founded by S. Wil VanLoh, Jr. and Toby Neugebauer in 1998. It is headquartered in Houston, with offices in Lubbock, Texas and Albany, Texas.
By December 2007, alongside the Carlyle Group, Lime Rock Partners and Riverstone Holdings, Quantum Energy Partners had invested US$460 million among themselves in Vantage Energy, a natural gas exploration company.
From August 2011 to October 2013, the company invested in Jack D. Hightower's Bluestem Energy Holdings.
The company was a founding investor in Linn Energy, an oil and natural gas corporation. In March 2015, it invested another US$1 billion in the corporation.
