Pyrates royale our boat

The Pyrates Royale were a novelty musical group. They specialized in playing nautical songs while costumed as pirates, each member of the group taking on an individual pirate persona for the performances. The group and its members became local celebrities in the Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C. area. Many of their songs were traditional sea shanties, but there were a few original compositions included in their repertoire and some traditional songs with fresh lyrics. They generally played in small venues, such as pubs and taverns, although they did occasionally perform at the Kennedy Center and on special shipboard events. They were also regular performers on the Rennaissance Faire circuit.

Contents

The Pyrates performed for thirty years before finally disbanding in 2016. Members came and went, but the core of the group consisted of Brad Howard (as Captain Fletcher Moone), Craig Williams (as First Mate Long John Skivee), and Darcy Nair (as Navigator Kat Fairbanks)

Among their traditional seafaring songs were Fireship, What Do You Do With a Drunken Sailor?, and Bell-Bottomed Trousers.
