A puzzle book is a collection of puzzles for the reader to complete. Puzzle books may contain puzzles all of simply one type like (e.g. crosswords or sudoku) or a mixture of different puzzle types. Crossword puzzles first appeared in England during the 19th century. The first known published crossword puzzle was created by a journalist named Arthur Wynne from Liverpool, and he is usually credited as the inventor of the popular word game. The crossword first appeared in print on December 21, 1913 in a Sunday newspaper, the New York World. Wynne's first crossword varied from those widely available today in the fact that it was diamond-shaped and did not include any blacked-out blocks to make the actual puzzle more visible.1
