Pupilla bigranata is a species of minute air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk or micromollusk in the family Pupillidae.

Description

The shell of Pupilla bigranata is smaller than Pupilla muscorum, whorls are slightly more rounded, cervical callus is strong, palatal tooth are more strongly developed and parietal tooth is also prominent.

The height of the shell is 2.5-3.5 mm. The width of the shell is 1.5 mm and shell diameter does not vary much.

Distribution

Distribution of Pupilla bigranata include Central Europe and Western Europe.

  • Very scattered in Switzerland, only 3 of 20 formerly known populations seem to have survived. Critically endangered in Switzerland.
  • endangered in Germany. Extinct in Bavaria; critically endangered in Rheinland-Pfalz

    Pupilla alpicola occur in dry and warm grassy slopes on calcareous substrate. In Switzerland in up to 2000 m altitude.
