Pseudochazara anthelea is a species of butterfly in the Nymphalidae family. It is found in Albania, Republic of Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey and N. Iraq. The males can be easily distinguished from the females by the white base and are found in dry, stony slopes and gullies, usually on limestone.

Subspecies

There is 1 subspecies of Pseudochazara anthelea:

  • ssp. amalthea Frivaldsky 1845
  • This subspecies is localised in Crete, Greece and in Struma valley, Bulgaria.

    Univoltime, late May to early July, depending on altitude and locality.
