History

The company was founded by Berlin Crystal Kelly in 2014 in New York City, where she was actively involved with the New York City Homebrewers Guild. After successfully launching the 2012 vintage of "The Oyster" wine, Berlin left her full-time finance job and invested in the second, 2014 vintage.

Wine

Proud Pour's first wine is a Sauvignon Blanc called "The Oyster". The 2012 vintage is from Central Coast California, and the 2014 vintage is from North Coast California.

Oyster Restoration Projects

In New York, Proud Pour's wine supports the work of The Billion Oyster Project in New York City. The Billion Oyster Project is a citizen science project coordinated by the New York Harbor School with the goal of restoring one billion live oysters to New York Harbor by 2030. The project aims to engage hundreds of thousands of school children during its lifetime in marine restoration-based STEM education programs. The project grew out of the activities of students at the New York Harbor School who started growing and restoring oysters in New York Harbor in 2008.

In Massachusetts, Proud Pour supports the work of the Massachusetts Oyster Project. MOP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to restoring water-cleansing oysters to the estuaries of Massachusetts. MOP has shown that oysters can survive and grow in Boston Harbor.
