Academics

Proof School's curriculum emphasizes working on and communicating about interesting mathematical problems. Class sizes aim to have a 15:1 student:teacher ratio. Students are placed by ability, not grade level or age, in math classes, foreign language, and programming classes. The academic year is broken down into 5 blocks of math instruction that immerses the entire school in a single topic for 6 weeks each. These blocks include problem solving, algebra, geometry, analysis, and number theory. Placement for math classes can vary by block according to the student's abilities in that's block's topic. Pupils are introduced to math research projects. Students take standard academic subjects in the morning and learn math for 2 hours in the afternoon. These standard subjects include a required curriculum of four years of English, two years of history, science, foreign language (including Latin and American Sign Language), and one year of arts. Programming and computer science are paired along with other subjects. The school offers computer science courses in Python, data structures, application design, and robotics.

The school uses blended learning methods (using technology in the classroom) and inquiry-based learning practices.

It will share its resources (including hosting math talks and events) in an open-source way with the public.

The school plans to get WASC accreditation on the usual schedule for new schools. Proof School does not offer Advanced Placement courses; however, faculty are equipped to help students who desire to take Advanced Placement exams prepare to do so.

Tuition

For the 2015-2016 school year, tuition was $34,300 across all grade levels. Currently, tuition is $35,200 for middle school and $37,200 for high school in this academic year (2016-2017). Admissions is need-blind. Proof School is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools standard aid reporting tools for families who apply for aid.
