He is also the Group CEO and MD of Ascent Group Of Companies which includes Ascent Films Pvt Ltd, Ascent Finance and Wealth Management LLP, and Ascent Food and Beverage LLP based in Mumbai and Kolkata in India. He marked his Bollywood debut as Director–Writer with the Hindi film, Chal Pichchur Banate Hain.

Early life and background
Pritish Chakraborty was born in a Bengali Brahmin family in Kolkata and brought up partly in Kolkata and partly in Mumbai.
Just like most culturally rich Bengali households, Pritish was trained by his parents in the various fields of Arts and Sciences in his school and college days including IT, Photography, Painting, Music, Dance, Writing, Direction and Acting. Pritish's first visit to Bombay was during his school vacation days in 1996, when he fell in love with the city and eventually due to his insistence his family shifted from Kolkata to Mumbai in 2001.
He was an ace performer in sports and studies, but in the three months of holiday post his 10th Standard exams Pritish got hooked to films as he watched almost a new movie every day, sometimes multiple movies in 1 day. He was 16 years old when he was exposed to masterpieces of Akira Kurosawa, Federico Fellini, Stanley Kubrick, Billy Wilder, Satyajit Ray, Woody Allen, Alfred Hitchcock, Francis Ford Coppola, Jean Luc Godard, Jean Renoir, Guru Dutt, Steven Spielberg and the like. The films stayed with him and his only dream as a 16-year-old was to be in films.
A complete movie buff from his childhood, creativity and entrepreneurship were always the hallmarks in his work and career. Pritish started his first business and founded his first company when he was only 18 years old. During his college years, Pritish used to multitask in between his business, movies and studies.
2006–2010 : Early Film and Television Career
Pritish started his Film and Television Career in 2006 as an Assistant Director in the hit television series Office Office.
Early in his film and television career (2006 to 2010) Pritish worked in various films and TV shows with several film and TV directors and producers like Rajiv Mehra, Umesh Mehra, Pooja Bhatt, Mahesh Bhatt, Pankaj Kapur, Ashok Gaekwad, Eagle Films, T-Series, Balaji Telefilms and others as Writer, Editor and Assistant Director.
2010–2011 : As Independent Director - Writer
In between 2010–2011, Pritish wrote and directed 12 Short Films exploring various genres. His First Short Film was a 22-minute dramatic thriller shot on a PD 170. His short films were showcased in a number of film festivals and were very popular on the internet.
2011–2012 : As Hindi Feature Film Director - Writer
In 2011, Pritish started shooting for his debut Hindi Feature Film "Chal Pichchur Banate Hain" as Director - Writer.
"Chal Pichchur Banate Hain" had its theatrical release on 7 September 2012.
The Satellite premiere of "Chal Pichchur Banate Hain" was on Colors TV Channel on 22 September 2012.
2012 to date : As Hindi Feature Film Actor - Producer - Director - Writer - Singer
After Chal Pichchur Banate Hain Pritish was offered to Direct his next films by various Producers but he chose to Produce his next film in order to have complete freedom in making what he wanted to make.
He founded his film production company, Ascent Films Private Limited in 2013 and started working on his next Film Script Mangal Ho.

Career influences
Pritish recognizes Michael Jackson as his only true icon as he and his videos were the key reasons behind him being attracted to showbiz. In world cinema his biggest influences are Stanley Kubrick, Charlie Chaplin, Federico Fellini and Francois Truffaut, while amongst Indian celebrities Kishore Kumar, Guru Dutt and Satyajit Ray are his all time favorites.
Life Influences
Pritish is a lifelong Yoga practitioner since the age of 12 and Swami Vivekananda is Pritish's primary spiritual influence in life. He had finished reading The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda by the age of 15. His grandfather was a Mahant or Head Priest in several Kali Temples in Calcutta.
