Pretty Rhythm

Story

The franchise takes place in a world where Prism Shows, performances that are a combination of singing, dancing, fashion, and ice skating, are popular. The skaters, known as Prism Stars, use Prism Stones to coordinate their dresses and perform Prism Jumps to appeal to their fans.

Aurora Dream

Aurora Dream revolves around a girl named Aira Harune who, along with a girl named Rizumu Amamiya, is scouted to become a Prism Star. At the beginning, Aira has no idea what a prism show is, and Rizumu is centered on her dream of performing the mysterious, legendary prism jump, "Aurora Rising", which her mother once performed. While forming a friendship, Aira and Rizumu are joined by a veteran Prism Star, Mion Takamine, a stubborn idol who is one year older than the two. As their friendship grows, the three girls form a group called as "MARs" and work towards performing an "Aurora Rising".

The girls face rivalry with the comedy and prism idol duet, "Serenon". They encounter a younger girl named Kaname Chris who is able to copy others' prism jumps, including the "Aurora Rising".

Dear My Future

Dear My Future is a direct sequel to Aurora Dream, which takes place three years after and where all member of MARs have been Prism Queen. The series follows a new idol, Mia Ageha, who aspires to become a greater idol than Aira. Forming her own group, "Prizmmy☆", alongside her friends Reina Miyama, Karin Shijimi and Ayami Oururi, she works hard fervently to reach her goal and fulfill her dream. In addition, Mia encounters her Korean childhood, Hye In, who has formed her own idol group with four other girls named as Shi Yoon, Jae Eun, Chae Kyoung and So Min, with the group named "PURETTY".

Mia and Hye In share only one dream - to become the no.1 Prism star in the world. However, they will soon find out that becoming no.1 in the world is no easy task because a mysterious man who wanted to put an end to Prism Shows now possesses something that will obliterate the history of Prism Shows off of the face of the Earth. It's up to Prizmmy and PURETTY to save the Prism Show from total annihilation.

Rainbow Live

Rainbow Live story sets in a different background from the two previous series.

Naru Ayase is an 8th grader who can see the colors of music when she listens to it. For Naru, who is extremely good at decorating Prism Stones, becoming the owner of a shop like "Dear Crown" was her dream. One day, she finds out that the manager of a newly opened shop is recruiting middle school girls who can do Prism Show and immediately applies. Naru begins to do a Prism Show at the audition and an aura she's never experienced spreads out in front of her. At that moment, a mysterious girl named Rinne asks her if she can see the "Colors of Music".

She later befriends Ann Fukuhara and Ito Suzuno known as 'Cross'. Ann becomes the charge of the cakes and sweets section while Ito becomes the charge of the make up section at Prism Stone along with Naru as the manager. Upon doing Prism Live their kappas Lovelyn, Poppun and Kurrun get turned into instruments: a guitar, drumsticks and keyboard respectively.

Later the three girls form a group called "Happy RAIN", but they are constantly irritated by Bell Renjouji, Wakana Morizono and Otoha Takanashi who are students of Edel Rose, the famous school for education in Prism Shows. Later it is shown that these girls become good friends and the three of them also find their kappas Seshini, Ethini and Femini. It is shown that Rinne and Prism Queen Amou June are messengers from the Prism World who bring the Prism Sparkle to different worlds, however the latter stayed on Earth for too long that she began to disintegrate and lose the Prism Sparkle almost completely.

It is to be noted that the Rainbow Live story is later revealed to be happening in a different world from Aurora Dream and Dear My Future. Penguin-sensei encounters the Yamada equivalent Tanaka in an episode near the end of the season, but Tanaka is not the Yamada of the first two series.

All-Star Selection

All-Star Selection is a mini-show aired after Pretty Rhythm's three animes, featuring a young girl named Laala Manaka who desired to become a Prism Star and learns some lessons from the three previous Pretty Rhythm protagonists: Aira, Mia and Naru to further prepare for Laala's debut. This aired for 11 episodes and recounts events from the three animes such as Aurora Dream, Dear My Future and Rainbow Live.

PriPara

PriPara is the successor to the Pretty Rhythm franchise, which changed the franchise logo due to the discontinuation of Pretty Rhythm arcade game. Like Rainbow Live, it's yet set in a different story background with new characters, however, the relationships of Pripara and other series are briefly mentioned in the film "PriPara the Movie: Everyone, Assemble! Prism ☆ Tours".

Kings of Prism

Kings of Prism is a spinoff of Rainbow Live, which is a film series instead of TV animation series. The story introduces Shin, a boy who desires to become a Prism Star and follows steps of "Over The Rainbow".

Aurora Dream

Pretty Rhythm: Aurora Dream, produced by Tatsunoko Production, aired on TV Tokyo between April 2, 2011 and March 31, 2012. The English dub aired on Animax Asia from January 31, 2014 to April 11, 2014.
