Prem Lata Sharma (10 May 1927 – 1998) was an eminent Indian musicologist, vocalist, scholar, Sanskritist and educator. As a vocalist she trained under Pt. Omkarnath Thakur, She was born in Punjab and completed her doctorate in the Banaras Hindu University. She started the India's first Department of Musicology at Banaras Hindu University in 1966.

Born in Nakodar in Punjab, her teachers included Prof. P.L. Vaidya, Pt. Omkarnath Thakur, Pt. Mahadev Shastri, M.M.Pt. Gopinath Kaviraj, Prof. V.S. Agrawal and Pt. Hajari Prasad Dwivedi, Pt. Brahmadatta Jijnasu, Pt.T.V. Ramachandra Dixitar. She was a polyglot who knew eight languages. She headed the Department of Musicology at the Banaras Hindu University and later was Vice-Chancellor of the Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya at Khairagarh.

The various seminars she organized and the translation projects she undertook represent seminal and unique contributions to Indian musicology.
