History

Prathyusha Institute of Technology was established in 1999, affiliated to Anna University. It was founded by Shri. P. Raja Rao, Chairman, Prathyusha Group of Companies.

    The Prathyusha Engineering College boasts computing lab facilities with more than 1500 computers. The labs have a high-speed Internet connection of 12 Mbit/s leased line (throughout the campus) using optical fibre cable. The mega computing lab is equipped with high-tech Blade servers.

    Library

    One of the highlights of the Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management College is its 50,000 sq.ft air conditioned central library with a seating capacity of 500. It has about 59085 volumes and 13242 titles of books that value around Rs. 2 Crores. The library also subscribes to 654 international and national journals, IEEE online transaction, ACM digital Llibrary and periodicals.

    In this fully automated library, students and staff members can search for books by author, title or subject heading and their availability. Each student is given three library books at a time and they have allocated library hours per week. A fully equipped conference hall is also available in the central library. The Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management Library is an institutional member of prestigious libraries such as the British Council Library, Anna University and IIT Chennai.

    Digital library

    Keeping pace with the advancements in technology and the need for automated library management system, a digital library has been established. This consists of 30 computer terminals with online access facilities; through this system, e-journals published around the globe can be browsed. The digital library is well stocked with various CDs that have audiovisual presentations on technical concepts.

    Computing facility, internet facility and wi-fi

    The Central Computing Lab has total number of computers is around 250 HCL-branded desktop systems. The configuration includes Core2Duo @ 3.0 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD, 18.5" TFT monitor, USB keyboard and USB optical mouse.

    Basic Computing and programming lab

    This lab has 120 HP-branded desktop systems. The configuration includes P IV 2.66 GHz, 512 MB DDR1 RAM, 160 GB HDD, 17" CRT monitor, USB keyboard and USB optical mouse.

    Autocad lab

    This lab has 62 HP-Branded desktop systems, and plotter. The configuration includes HP DX2480, Core2Duo 2.66 GHz, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160 GB SATA HDD, 15" CRT monitor, USB keyboard and USB optical mouse.

    Internet facility & wi-fi

    The college has a 12 MBPS Internet leased line and a state-of-the-art wi-fi facility.

    Seminar / auditorium hall

    This seminar hall has a seating capacity of 500. It is furnished with audio visual aids such as LCD projectors, CD-ROM, overhead projectors, television, and digital whiteboards, enabling multimedia presentations.

    Guest lectures, project presentations, science exhibitions, and paper presentations are held here. The seminar hall often hosts placement interviews, with students from various colleges assemble here to attend these discussions.

    Canteen and cafeteria

    South Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, prepared by chefs, is served every day. The menu takes into consideration the nutritional and calorific requirements of the students. Separate dining facilities are provided for men and women.

    The canteen offers snacks during lunch and break time. It also provides stationery items and notebooks.

    Report on sports day

    PASPORT 2010, Prathyusha's State Level Annual Sports Trophy and the 10th Annual Sports Meet of Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management was inaugurated on 24 March 2010 at 9am on the college premises. Dr. N. Gunasekaran, the Principal of the college delivered the welcome address. Shri. Su. Arunachalam, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Police Training College, Chennai, was the Chief Guest. Ms. P. Prathyusha, the CEO of Prathyusha Group of Companies presided over the function. Dr. P.M. Beulah Devamalar spoke on the relevance of the occasion and gave an introduction to PASPORT 2010.

    After a short, formal inaugural session, the students of the college performed gymnastic feats. The colourful fete displayed by the students was amazing and breathtaking. Following this, the Chief Guest formally started the tournament, which went on for two days. Colleges from all over the state participated in the tournament.

    The valedictory function was held on 25 March 2010. Shri. Dr. K. R. Shyam Sunder, IPS, Additional Director General of Police and Inspector General of Prisons, Tamil Nadu was the Chief Guest. Shri. P. Raja Rao, Chairman, Prathyusha Group of Companies presided over the function. Prizes were distributed to the winners in various sports and athletic events.

    Students of Prathyusha participated in various inter zonal sports tournaments and won in boxing, ball badminton and shuttle cock. They did the college proud by winning 11 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals in athletics, boxing and other games conducted by Anna University.

    Prathyusha conducted intramural competitions for athletics shot put, long jump, discus and javelin for boys and girls separately. 72 medals have been presented to the boys and girls for individual events and 328 cups have been presented for group events. 4 shields were presented as overall championship shields in sports and games.

    Villgro

    Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management, in association with Vellore Institute of Technology - Technology Business Incubator, inaugurated Villgro MY IDEA PROGRAM on February 8, 2010 at PITAM.

    This program is about developing cutting-edge technology for rural development. The students presented innovative ideas that make a difference in villages at national and global levels.

    Mr. Dinesh Chandra Siva, Associate Manager, Campus and Recruitment relations, Infosys, Chengalpet was the chief guest at the function. He gave an insight into the recent developments in the IT field and the growing demand for potential and competent engineers. He emphasized the need for grooming their creative, analytic and innovative abilities which will enable them to meet global standards. He further added that the students should be encouraged to take more extensive research work in their chosen fields.

    Later the students displayed their creative talents through their novel ideas. Dr. S.K. Srivatsa, Prof, MIT and Dr. G.T. Mahohar, Prof, IIT Madaras were the judges for the event. Their intelligence and practical knowledge and exposure really helped the students to realize what is being missed out in their papers and how to further analyze logically and creatively to defend their brilliant ideas. Shri. A.K. Pattabiraman, Principal Consultant, TCS, delivered the address at a colourful valedictory function held on the same day.
