Prakash Loungani is a senior resource manager and advisor in the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Research Department, the book review editor of Finance & Development (a quarterly magazine published by the IMF) and an adjunct professor at Vanderbilt University's Owen School of Management and Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies.His research interests include: causes of unemployment; global housing markets; impacts of energy price shocks; and assessment of forecasting performance.

Career and education
Loungani earned his BA from the University of Bombay (now the University of Mumbai) and his MA and PhD in economics from the University of Rochester. Since then he has been an analyst for the Federal Reserve Board's International Finance Division, a senior economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, an adjunct professor at the Maxwell School of Communications at Syracuse University and an assistant professor at the University of Florida. He currently works as a senior resource manager and advisor in the IMF's Research Department, the book review editor of Finance & Development and an adjunct professor at Vanderbilt University's Owen School of Management and Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies. He now has over 25 years of job experience at the IMF, the Federal Reserve System and the University of Florida. He has researched topics such as: assessment of macroeconomic forecasting performance; understanding trade linkages among nations and regions; and modeling the impact of oil prices on the macroeconomy.
Publications
Loungani has over 60 published works, articles and chapters including publications in the NBER International Seminar on Macroeconomics, The Cato Journal, Reason, Business Times Singapore, The World Economy, Financial Times, Finance & Development and IMF Survey.
