Alfonso "Poncho" Nevárez is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives, serving since 2013. Nevárez is the first member of his family to graduate from college. He won the seat after longtime incumbent Pete Gallego gave it up to make a successful run for the United States House of Representatives.
