History

The PocketPlug was launched on Kickstarter in March 2012, which raised 130,000 dollars. This led to the device being sold in Brookstone and Staples.

Features

The PocketPlug phone case features an integrated A/C charging plug which allows users to plug their phones directly into an outlet to charge their phone, removing the requirement for a charger. The case itself is manufactured with a soft-plastic rubber and features a sound funnelling design in order to enhance sound volume and quality. While the case has received praise for the simplicity of the idea, critics have felt that the phone was lacking an external battery.

Prong, the manufacturers of the PocketPlug have developed a further accessory, the PWR case, which featured an external battery. The case will be rolled out at Best Buy starting in summer 2014. CNET reviewed the case and felt that for "tired of dealing with wall warts, charging cables, and, especially, dead batteries, this might be just the case you need."
