Facilities
The station is unstaffed and has basic amenities only (waiting shelters and timetable poster boards). A public telephone is provided to offer train running information in addition to the timetable posters. The main building is now privately owned and used as commercial premises. Step-free access is available to both platforms.
Service
Monday to Saturday there is an hourly service westbound to Chester and eastbound to Manchester Piccadilly, with a couple of weekday peak hour extras to/from Stockport. On Sundays there is now a two-hourly service to Chester and to Southport via Manchester and Bolton.
