Pinkalicious flower girl read along aloud story audio book for children and kids

The Pinkalicious book series is a series of books written and illustrated by Victoria Kann. The first two books, Pinkalicious and Purplicious, were co-written with her sister, Elizabeth Kann. Goldalicious, Silverlicious, Emeraldalicious, and Aqualicious have all been number one. Silverlicious was number one on the list for more than 3 months. The stories center on a girl named Pinkalicious and is told in first person narrative. Pinkalicious, as her name implies, has a love for things which are pink whether they are at school, home, or outdoors. The books are based on Victoria's two daughters, and their love for the color pink. All of the books have been featured on the New York Times bestseller list. The books have all reached phenomenal success, and there is a play based on the first book. It has been off-broadway since 2007 and plays throughout the United States. 2015 marks Pinkalicious' 10th anniversary.

Contents

Victoria Kann

Pinkalicious is Victoria Kann's only book series. Victoria went to college at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) and majored in illustration. Prior to Pinkalicious, she worked on magazine covers and art spreads. She has done illustrations for magazines such as BusinessWeek, Harper's Magazine, Washington Post , New York Times, and NewsWeek. To do her illustrations, she uses mixed media scanned into the computer. If you look closely, you can see music notes in the buildings, old letters in the ground, and books in the birds. The illustrations take around a year to complete, and are very intricate.

Reception

Shanea Goldizen of Library Point describes Pinkalicious as '...a colorful, scrumptious feast for the eyes and will keep your kids reading and re-reading...' Publishers Weekly found that'the artwork creates visual interest to keep pink-loving gals involved in this tale of wonderful-to-wretched excess.'

Other Media

The Pinkalicious series also includes combined book packs, sticker and activity books and audio books. There are also dolls and other merchandise. There has been a Pinkalicious line at both Walmart and Target. For a limited time, Crumbs Bake Shop also had a Pinkalicious Cupcake. All proceeds gained from this cupcake went to charity. Pinkalicious has been staged as a musical in various theatres including New World Stages.
