Phurba Sherpa (Nepali: फुर्वा शेर्पा) (born 17 September), is a Filmmaker, Music Video Director, Television Director / Producer and Nepali singer whose most prominent album, Geet Ek Akshar Ko features the world's first ever one-letter song in the world music industry, "Song of Nepal".

Personal life

Phurba Sherpa was born at 17 September to Mingma Sherpa and Shanta Sherpa; he was born at Bhojpur and moved to Biratnagar, Nepal. He began his school studies from Biratnagar until 8th standard and completed School Leaving Certificate (S.L.C) from Godawari Vidya Mandir. After S.L.C, He went to Kathmandu and joined Global College of Management for plus two studies. He then completed BBA degree and acquired Diploma in Digital Film Making from SAE Institute,India, headquartered in Bayron Bay, Australia then returned to Kathmandu and made some new films, music video, television shows and music. Now he is working in AP1 hd television as senior program producer.

Singing journey

Sherpa has sung several patriotic songs besides his two solo music album "Anjaan" & "Geet Ek Akshar Ko". He was nominated in the category Best song with National Feeling for 2006 and 2008 in the country's prestigious Eighth & 10th Annual Image Award.

He has appeared in several music concerts in Nepal and abroad. He says that he is not a trained singer and sings as his hobby since his school days. His latest solo track is "Meri Unilai' which has been recorded after ten years though he works full time making Music Videos, Television Shows, Corporate Videos, Ad. Films where he plays Director role.

Career

Phurba has graduated Digital Film Making in 2007. Since Digital filmmaking is the modern filmmaking process binding computer, digital technology and film creative. Digital film started from 1980th. In the history of film developing, digital technology is the most fleetly that separated to all aspects of filmmaking.

Until recently, Hollywood studios were the only ones who had the money to pay for digital tools and for the labor involved in producing digital effects. However, the shift to digital media affects not just Hollywood, but filmmaking as a whole. As traditional film technology is universally being replaced by digital technology, the logic of the filmmaking process is being redefined.

So, after studying Digital Film Making from SAE Institute, he has been working actively as filmmaker, Music Video Director and Television Producer and Director.

He has been nominated as Best Music Video Director in 12th Annual Image Award for his beautiful work " Youwanma Ta Timro", 15th Annual Image Award in the category Best Music Video for his work "Jane Belamaa", Best Cameraman Sagar Pradhan for the work "Aago Sahera" music video which has been filmed at the beautiful locations of Abu Dhabi, UAE with limited numbers of crew. On 16th Annual Image Award "Meri Unilai" Music Video has been nominated in the category Best Cameraman. His most popular show includes The Flop Show, Little Champs, Top Ten Chartbuster, the NEFTA FILM AWARDS series 4TH &5TH, U & Me, New Year show-Utsav, and Cyber Sansaar- the one and only show about gadgets and gizmos.
