Introduction
Peruvilai is called also as Keezha Peruvilai(Peruvilai) Peruvilai is a village in Tamil Nadu, India. It is 4 km from the town Nagercoil. There are about 500 living families. Parvathipuram is the nearest place of the peruvilai. NH47 goes through parvathipuram. There is a fairly large residential colony by the name Christopher Nagar and a small one by the name Rajalakshmi Nagar. Mrs. Sheeja Shakemeeran was the president of the panchayath. She got an award from President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for good environmental village in 2008. Mrs. Seerya Pushpam was the vice-president of the panchayath. After 2011 peruvilai became town panchayath, and came under municipality. Now, presently the counciller of peruvilai is Mrs. Sukitha Nadarajan(Congress). Here many peoples of different religion, caste, etc. live together, this is the main specialty of Peruvilai. They are very friendly with each other. There are Churches, Temples and mosques, in Peruvilai. Many shops are in Peruvilai, these shops help people to get their necessities within the village. This is the only village which has the facilities, as though in towns.

Historical
Primary occupation of the people is agriculture. Before independence, royal corporal punishment took place here. This was done by a person called Aarachar. The Shiva temple has a historical connection with the great king Marthanda Varma, Marthanda varma got his stomach pain treated after getting the blessings of Lord Chokkalinga, the form of the presiding deity here. A mosque is situated on the way to parvathipuram. Peruvilai has many Hindu temples also, they have their own history. Government Higher Secondary School,Government primary school, Peruvilai are situated here. It started about 28 years ago (till 2011). Many private schools are there, a few primary schools are St. Johns Matriculation school, Holy Mother Matriculation school. These schools provides efficient services for students. A government medical college is nearby which serves as the district medical college. This is situated in Assaripallam.

S. Jeyapaul of INC was elected as a M.L.A in 2006 representing the Colachel legislative segment. His native place is Peruvilai. Then he did good things, he was reputed by people. Actually he was a leader.He died in 2010. Before 2011, Peruvilai was under Colachel legislative segment and now in 2011, it is under Nagercoil legislative segment. From April 2011, Peruvilai is going to be town panchayath. This time the legislative member is Nanjil A.Murugaesan. He is elected by Nagercoil people as MLA. In Peruvilai,Number of committees are being like politics, fans club,...etc.
