History

Perforce Software was founded in 1995 by Christopher Seiwald. The company is headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, with offices in Alameda, California; Sydney, Australia; Wokingham, England; and Victoria, Canada. Its first product was Perforce, a version control system allowing companies to collaborate on large projects and keep a record of their development. Perforce Helix, built around the Perforce Versioning Engine, was launched in March 2015. Other products include Helix GitSwarm, Helix Swarm, Helix Threat Detection and Helix Insights.

In February 2016, Seiwald sold the company to investment group Summit Partners. Janet Dryer was named as new CEO.

In November 2016, Perforce announced the acquisition of Seapine Software
