Barbara Penny Crone was an American television and radio reporter, media personality, and currently a real estate broker.

Career
Crone began her journalism career as a federal court reporter for the Hearst Newspaper in Baltimore, before moving to WJZ-TV as a writer/producer. Her first on-air reports occurred circa 1973, while working for KMOX-TV (now KMOV), then at the CBS owned station in St. Louis. Later in the 1970s, she worked for then-independent KPLR-TV, also in St. Louis.
She was a feature reporter for Good Day New York at WNYW's Fox 5 Live, a locally produced news and information morning show. She is a native New Yorker and was with Fox 5 for more than fourteen years.
A three-time local Emmy Award-winner, well known in the New York area for her coverage of the city's police and fire departments and the New York Yankees, Crone's additional credits include on-air reporting for WCBS-TV, WNYW-TV and WWOR-TV in New York, as well as a stint at KHOU-TV in Houston. She also co-hosted a morning talk show for WABC Radio (1998) and appeared in the TV movie Mistrial, and in the feature films Daylight and Hero at Large. In addition to her local Emmy awards for Outstanding Crime Reporting (1993), Outstanding Multi-Part News Feature (1995), and On Camera Achievement (1996), Crone received professional honors from several uniformed service organizations, as well as the International Film and Television Festival (1979, 1980). Her most recent honor is the "Integrity in Journalism Award" (2005) from The New York State Shields, Inc.
On January 17, 2007, the New York Daily News reported, "former WNYW/Ch. 5 correspondent Penny Crone has left Howard Stern's "Howard 100 News" on Sirius Satellite Radio because of budget cuts, according to sources."
Crone subsequently became a real-estate broker at Prudential Douglas Elliman. On October 23, 2007 She appeared as a guest on the FOX Business Network discussing the real estate and housing market.
During Gretchen Carlson's reign as Miss America, Crone publicly asked her questions that Carlson deemed inappropriate.
Personal life
Penny was born Barbara Penny Crone in New York City. Her father, Harold, was the president of Hecht Company, a Baltimore department store. She resides in the New York area with her husband, who served as a member of the Secret Service for several Presidents, and the Treasury. They have one son, Travis, who is an Airman with the United States Navy.
