History

The airline was established in 1963 and started operations on 24 January 1970. It has been run as a standalone subsidiary since 1981. Pelita Air Service is owned by Pertamina (90%) and Patra Jasa (10%).

    Accidents and incidents

    On 2 January 1990, while en route to Palembang, a CASA 212 operated by Pelita Air Service experienced an engine trouble. The aircraft ditched and sank into Java sea. 7 people were killed.
