Dr. Peddada Jagadeeswara Rao, known as Dr. P J Rao or Dr. P. Jagadeeswara Rao (born 24 June 1962) is an Indian hydro-geologist. He is currently Professor at Andhra University and Resource Person at the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, National Institute of Rural Development, National Remote Sensing Center, UGC –Human Resource Development Centre-AU and A.P. Forest Department-Visakhapatnam. Acted as an advisory member on City development strategy on Environment to Visakha Municipal Corporation.
Dr. P J Rao was born in Andhra Pradesh, India.

Completed M.Sc. (Tech)degree in Geology from Andhra University
Finished M.Tech. degree in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems from Andhra University (UNO) and
Pursed PhD. degree in Watershed Management with reference to groundwaterform Andhra University.

Academic and R & D career
Dr. P J Rao worked at the SER, Bhubaneswar and the Geo-Engineering and Center for Remote Sensing in Visakhapatnam.
He held several important positions, as the Head of Department of the Geo-Engineering and Center for Remote Sensing (Andhra Pradesh), and Secretary for Indian Society of Geomatics, Visakhapatnam Chapter.
Among his best-known discoveries are the Watershed Management with reference to groundwater Other areas he worked in include Bed rock & foundation rock. He has published over 25 National/ International publications in Journals/Conferences.
