Paul Mormando (born January 25, 1970) is the creator of the Cha Ki Do Martial Arts System. Mormando also goes by the name of Mr. Karate USA. Paul is a martial arts grandmaster, self-defense expert, actor and producer. Paul Mormando also gained national notoriety for his creation of the Real Life Self Defense course. Mormando's expertise in these fields has led to over fifty television appearances as well as being featured in over 200 magazines and newspapers.

Paul Mormando was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York where he still resides today with his wife and three children. Paul and his wife Anna, run the Mormando school of martial arts located in Brooklyn. Mormando along with other well-known athletes had their life story told in the book Running Through Road Blocks written by Jerry Del Priore.
Paul began studying and training in a variety of different schools of martial arts, and eventually decided to develop his own martial arts system. Mormando took all that he learned and his desire to make it better and formed Cha Ki Do Martial Arts. He was 19 years old at the time. At the same time, he also received his tenth degree black belt. This black belt was presented to him by Grandmaster Aaron Banks. An article was written by Grandmaster Aaron Banks for the New York Newsday in which Banks hailed Mormando as a "genius in karate". Mormando is still teaching this in his hometown of Brooklyn, New York.
Mormando has also been responsible for teaching and training numerous champions in both karate and kick boxing. One of the most memorable of Paul's students is Dmitriy Salita. Salita later moved on to become a well-known professional fighter.
Paul's popularity through his martial arts breakthroughs has led him to also take part in the entertainment world. Mormando can be seen in some small roles on both the silver screen as well as television. He appeared in the film American Shaolin: King of the Kickboxers II (American Shaolin). Mormando also made some appearances on the television show Law & Order. Mormando also started on one of the longest Broadway shows, Tony and Tina's Wedding. Paul played to the role of Angelo in this smash Broadway play. Paul Mormando also has producing and directing experience for a short film entitled There's No Hope. This short won some awards and put Mormando on the map as an established producer and director. After a long hiatus from acting Mormando decided to return to acting this time in the web series Double Fist. Mormando also acts as the producer, along with his wife Anna Mormando, and even help to write some of the project. Double Fist is scheduled for a 2014 release.
Mormando has been accredited with over 150 martial arts performances and demonstrations. He has performed at such well known venue's as Madison Square Garden, Coney Island, Queens College, New World Stages and a variety of other platforms. Paul's most notable performance was the demonstration of Martial arts that was done prior to a Met's game. This performance was televised and performed in front of 15,000 live audience members. Mormando has also performed over a dozen times with the Aaron Banks Oriental World of Self Defense Show.
Real Life Self Defense
Mormando is also credited with establishing and creating the Real Life Self Defense System. This is a self-defense system that Mormando and his team of experts teach civilians defense tactics. These defense techniques are taught to the average person and can be learned in a short amount of time. Mormando created this program because he was often bullied and picked on as a young child. By creating the Real Life Self Defense system, he is giving everyone the sense of empowerment that he never had as a child. He has spent a considerable amount of time teaching these real life skills that can save one's life at cooperation's, business and school seminars. The Real Life Self Defense is also available on an individual basis.
