PatientWay is a Canadian company which produces the PatientWay Suite, an integrated bundle of applications that streamlines the flow of information about patients from their primary care physician through to the clinical area of a hospital. It provides online pre-registration, appointment reminders and onsite interactive kiosks for activities such as appointment check-ins, full registrations, satisfaction surveys and wayfinding.

History
The PatientWay team is built on the experience gained working with 1,800 healthcare organizations in Ontario since 2004. They developed and maintained the Ontario government’s most innovative and reliable accountability reporting systems. The team's operational expertise combined with the insight that was gained into hospital processes and information systems led to the creation of PatientWay by Jay Lawrence in 2010.
Since 2009, hospitals in Canada and the United States have implemented the PatientWay Suite, including the Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario, that has reduced patient access operational costs by 30% and data registration errors by 50%.
How it works
Using a two-step registration process a patient will pre-register either online by phone or fax at least 48 hours prior to their arrival. Upon arrival at the hospital on appointment day the patient can decide to swipe their health card (where applicable) at a user-friendly touch–screen “Express Check-in” kiosk or to visit a Welcome Centre for personal service. Regardless of which method the patient chooses, the hospital is notified of their arrival and ready for their appointment.
