History

PartsBase, Inc. was founded in 1996 in Houston, Texas. PartsBase, Inc. was known as Partsbase.Com, Inc, and changed its name to PartsBase, Inc. in July 2001. In 2002, PartsBase, Inc. went private, and has remained a private company ever since. In 2008, Lockheed Martin partnered with PartsBase and renewed its membership to the database each subsequent year. The PartsBase community includes other major corporations such as Boeing, Airbus, United Airlines, AAR Corp, and the Lufthansa Group.

PartsBase was developed with the goal to provide the most comprehensive aviation marketplace and community for the aviation, aerospace and defense industries. In 2000, the company had 2,500 suppliers, containing over 23 million line items. As of 2015, PartsBase was recognized for being on pace to acquire over $1 billion in direct quotes. As of 2015, the marketplace was recognized for 125 small to medium-sized companies that received over $5 million each in quotes. Some large corporations announced membership to the PartsBase marketplace, including: Boeing, Airbus, United Airlines, AAR, and the Lufthansa Group.

The aviation marketplace processes over 600,000 electronic Requests for Quote, or RFQs, per month. Over 26,000 part searches occur each day. The PartsBase parts database is an aviation network resource that provides listings for (but not limited to) aircraft parts, helicopter parts, Airbus parts, Boeing parts, Cessna parts, Piper parts, Beechcraft parts, Embraer parts, and other important parts needed for aviation and aircraft repair. PartsBase has amassed a membership of 7,500 companies, and receives over 2 million pageviews each month. PartsBase also offers Listing, Search, Advertising and SEM services. In 2015, PartsBase released a new feature called Quick Quote. QuickQuote is an email-based system that sends information on RFQs to customers. The system monitors the database and alerts companies when it receives specific information on RFQs. Customers can attach files such as traceability, certifications, and pictures, potentially shortening the bidding process.
