History

Carlos Foglia and Eric-jon Tasker were roommates while at college. They matriculated at Emerson together from 1997 - 2001. The name of the band came from a road trip by the two founding members in 1999. They wrote down the names which were printed on the sides of big rig trucks that they passed. Mixing up the words collected, they came up with two names for their band. The first, which was discarded, was Calarc Bean Company and Friends. The second name they created was the one they ultimately used - Parker House and Theory.

After Tasker and Foglia wrote a collection of songs, they recorded an EP title YAOUIDASI in 1999. After a list of performances, they decided to bring on more musicians to fill out the sound. The first batch of musicians they hired were

  • Robert Grigsby Wilson - Bass
  • Anders Burrows - Saxophone and Percussion
  • Noah Wolf - Violin
  • Debra Yourman - Female Lead
  • The second batch of musicians included

  • Colin Lewis - Bass
  • Marcos Valles - Percussion
  • Andrew Christopher Wesby - Harmonica
  • The current incarnation includes

  • Sean Cronin - Lead Guitar and vocals
  • Shon Gordon - Bass and vocals
  • Parker House and Theory were recognized locally with a Boston Music Award for their EP release in 2006, PHT followed up with their highly anticipated full-length album “Automatic Stranger”, released in the spring of 2008 on their own label, Rule of 4 Records. Recorded with 7x Grammy winner Thom Russo (Audioslave, System Of A Down, Juanes, Maná) “Automatic Stranger” delivers energetic rock, driving funk, infectious pop melodies, intimate moments and mature arrangements.

Labeled as a "soon to crack" band (Boston Herald) and "one of the next generation of acts to watch" (Boston Globe), Parker House and Theory is on a mission to spread their musical seed far and wide. Having won over the audiences of and shared the stage with Of A Revolution, Jurassic 5, 311, G. Love and Special Sauce, The Wailers, Dropkick Murphys, John Butler Trio, and State Radio, they are on the right path.

They were scheduled to go on tour with James Brown on December 27, 2006; however, the latter died on Christmas Day. Their music has been classified as a mix of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Maroon 5, Blues Traveler, The Police, Jeff Buckley, and Latin rock.

They were courted and signed by ICM in Spring of 2008.

    Touring

They have played over 500 shows since 2003. They have played Fenway Park, Comcast Center, Boston City Hall, Paradise Rock Club, 68 Court St. Geneseo, NY, and many other arenas, amphitheatres and rock houses nationwide.

They toured with nationally acclaimed act Of A Revolution (O.A.R.) in the Spring of 2008 in support of the release Automatic Stranger.

    overheard at a show

I heard that they got the name from Miles Davis and Charlie Parker, and how they used to jam at The Bird's house, and they just went crazy redefining the musical boundaries and theories that existed
