Paris buns are a sweetened breadlike cake similar to currant buns. Paris buns are popular in poorer areas of Scotland and Ireland for being cheap and filling. A recipe from a 1881 cookbook refers to Paris buns as "Scotch" and says that three of the buns cost a penny.
