Parallel Parkway is a stretch of roadway named after Pvt. Perry L. Parallel in Wyandotte County, Kansas (only a fragment). Its western terminus at both US 73 and K-7 and its eastern terminus at North 5th Street in Kansas City, Kansas.

Contents

Private Parallel was a U.S. Cavalry man, and also a Methodist missionary, who is credited with creating the peaceful settlement of both Eastern settlers and Wynadot Indians in the formerly separate town of Wyandotte. Wyandotte was absorbed into the greater Kansas City Kansas in the early 20th century. While many current day KCKers believe the parkway received its name from its position relative to the primary KCK thoroughfare of State Avenue, the road's name is actually a tribute to an early settler of the region. Plans to erect an historical marker to Private Parallel have been scuttled due to a lack of funding.

The Parallel Parkway mainly functions to connect the main cities included in the Kansas City, KS mailing address. All of the cities it passes through in Kansas are included in the mailing address.
