History
Paradise Valley Hospital was founded in 1904 by Ellen G. White, who helped to purchase 54 acres (220,000 m2) of land with the purpose of beginning a healthcare institution named Paradise Valley Sanitarium. This occurred during the health reform of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, who later turned the sanitarium into a full-fledged hospital. Over the years, PVH came to be known for providing charity care to the surrounding community which led to a growing deficit. As a result, it was sold to Prime Healthcare Services in 2006, making it part of a family of 17 other community hospitals owned by PHS.
Community Programs
In addition to its basic 24-hour emergency service, Paradise Valley Hospital offers free to low-cost classes and programs to the community through its Center for Health Promotion. These cover areas such as diabetes management with glucose screening, asthma and other respiratory issues, nutrition, quitting smoking, stress and weight management, first time parent classes, and fitness.
