Palace of Buddies are a Salt Lake City, Utah-based Lo-fi, Experimental Rock band, consisting of members, Timothy Myers and Nicholas Foster. Their sound is generated from the use of multiple analog synths, effects & amplifiers, de-tuned/alternate tuned guitars, live audio looping, reverberated percussion and odd timed rhythm patterns. Their live performances are matched with both members, at times, playing two instruments simultaneously which gives the effect of a 4-5 piece ensemble.

History

Palace of Buddies members Nick and Tim met in middle school during the mid-1990s in suburbs of Salt Lake City, Utah and within the next few years their common interests in music led them to form an experimental metal group known as Pushing Up Daisies with Tim on guitar and Nick on drums. Pushing Up Daisies were celebrated for their virtuosity and accessible originality. They created strong atmosphere with a variety of effects pedals and with the drummer playing keyboard while drumming simultaneously; the keyboard sitting next to his hi-hat. Although having local success and future prospects on a national level, both Nick and Tim left in 2002 to pursue alternative mediums in music. Nick graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in Music Composition and Tim formed the band, Airliner.

The summer of 2006 brought them back playing music together, which also added obstacles in their way as to how they would function as a two piece. The following year they began to incorporate added instruments and equipment that would help un-restrict the limitations of being a two piece and provide the grounds on which their new project would stand. The songs that they began to create required both members to play/loop/trigger multiple instruments within each song.

In 2008 Palace of Buddies began to record their debut album, which was recorded and edited by Nick Foster. The self-titled record, taking a year to complete, was released on Kilby Records in March 2009.

Palace of Buddies self-recorded their follow up album, Summertimes, which was released in 2011.
