Description

The archaic Vallikunnam Padayanivettom Devi Temple have been providing blessings to its adorers from centuries and have been raising their life to eminence. In the early times Kalari Deva's worship was common among the rural people. The worships like Padayani, Thottam pattu, Kalamezhuthu pattu were common for achieving kalari deva's favour. Once when Padayani was being conducted, a group of people saw two seraphic women in torch light. This became a common talk among the people. To know about the truth of this incident all came to a decision for 'Devaprashna'. According to the Devaprashna it was known that there was presence of Sree Durga Devi and Sree Bhadra Devi in the locality and that the two seraphs seen during padayni were the two devi. It was decided to create temples for the two devi. Since the two seraphs were seen in Padayani's light the place came to be known as 'Padayanivettom'. Even today the two seraphs have been illuminating the whole locality with their presence.
