P.E.Society English Medium High School and Junior College(PES) is a school in Thane, a suburb near Mumbai in India operated by the People's Education Society. It is located near The Hume Pipe.
History
People’s Education Society was established on 1 April 1936 to take charge of New English School which was started in Thane on 15 June 1926 by late Shri. V.N.Bhole. P.E.Society.
The need & growing importance of English language in the field of education & to remain connected with the world instigated P. E. Society to impart education through the medium of English in the cultural city like Thane.
P.E.Society started English medium school with Junior K.G. in June, 1976. With the natural growth, school became High School and sanction for STD 8th, 9th & 10th was given in June, 1985 by Shri. Ram Meghe, the then Hon. Education Minister.
The first batch of S.S.C. consisting of 36 students appeared for Board Examination in March 1988 and secured 100% result. Ever since, the school has got 100% result at S.S.C. consistently, barring a couple of years.
The principals of the school from the time of its inception has been Mrs Mangala Karandikar (June 1976- March 2011 retired) who is also the pioneer of People’s Education Society group of schools in Thane.(Pre-primary and primary section) for the last 36 + years . She is also the first teacher of the English medium school She is also the winner of Thane Mayor's award for the Best Teacher. She is the current state Commissioner for scout and guide association for the last 10 years. She is also one of the honorable trustees on the school board. The school has an active participation in sports activities.It has got rifle shooting, athletic training, volleyball,football,cricket and many other sports' training .It has many educational branches for junior college section like :electronics, computer science, biology, information technology .
