P T Mohammed Sunish (Malayalam: പി ടി എം സുനിഷ് ) (born 25 May 1975) is the managing director of Kerala State Women Development Corporation,Government of Kerala. He is also the first CEO of Gender Park.

Early life and education

Born and raised in a traditional middle-class family in Manjeri, Malappuram in Kerala and completed his schooling. He graduated in Commerce from the University of Calicut in 1995. In 2004, he took a Master's in Business Administration and MA Public Administration (2008) from the Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamil Nadu.

Professional life

Sunish served as general manager, Badruddin Group of Poly Clinics, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 1995 to 1997. In 1999, he joined Manjeri Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd, a co-operative bank functioning under the guidelines of Reserve Bank of India as junior manager and served there for two years. Resigning from the post in 2001, Sunish assumed charge as Assistant Private Secretary to Minister for Industries and Social Welfare, Government of Kerala, India. He served in the post for 4 years, till 2005. In 2005, Sunish was posted as regional manager of Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation Ltd (a PSU under Department of Social Justice, Government of Kerala). In 2009, he was promoted to the post of managing director of KSWDC. In January 2013, he took over as chief executive officer of Gender Park, Department of Social Justice, Government of Kerala, where he serves till date. He also played a major role in the execution of SHE Taxi project by the Government of Kerala. The institution has its headquarters at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Honors and awards

In 2012, Sunish received the ‘UdyogPathr’ award of Pravaasi Bharath, Trivandrum for contributions made in the field of public sector for social advancement. The Open International University, Colombo, Sri Lanka conferred a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) (honoriscausa) on Sunish in 2013, an honour conferred on distinguished persons on the basis of their achievements in humanitarian services and merits of excellence.

Sunish attended and presented a paper on Utilization of Technological Advancements in Social Service Sector at TCDPAP & FIDIC Asia Pacific Conference, Colombo, Sri Lanka (2012). He also attended the 7th World Conference on Promotion of Mental Health and Prevention of Mental and Behavioral Disorders, Perth, Australia (2012). He was also selected to attend the International Visitor Leadership Program held at Washington DC (2014) conducted by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the U.S Department of State. He was recently invited to attend a three-day South Asia Regional study tour in Vienna (2015) organised by the World Bank with an aim to improve the visibility and cross-country learning on the topic of women's mobility and security in the public transport sector.

Special accomplishments

Under the leadership of Sunish, KSDWC launched REACH, first of its kind finishing schools in the country which professional grooming to the women employees of Kerala, with 100% placement assurance. Career orientation and employability programs through regular education system were rendered throughout the state. Along with this, tie-ups with large-scale employers were also executed, which was well appreciated by the Centre for Management Development in the performance evaluation report of 2011.
