The Ozone Vulcan is a French single-place paraglider that was designed by hang gliding and paragliding world champion pilot Robbie Whittall and produced by Ozone Gliders of Le Bar-sur-Loup. It is no longer in production.

Design and development

The Vulcan was designed as an intermediate sports glider and replaced the Ozone Octane in the product line. The Vulcan models are each designated according to their relative size.

Operational history

Reviewer Noel Bertrand described the Ozone series of gliders in a 2003 review as, "wings that are both pleasant to fly and high performance in their respective categories".

Variants

Vulcan XS
Extra small-sized model for much lighter pilots. Its 11.04 m (36.2 ft) span wing has a wing area of 22.6 m2 (243 sq ft), 56 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.4:1. The take-off weight range is 55 to 70 kg (121 to 154 lb). The glider model is certified to the German DHV 2 standard.
Vulcan S
Small-sized model for lighter pilots. Its 11.61 m (38.1 ft) span wing has a wing area of 24.78 m2 (266.7 sq ft), 56 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.4:1. The take-off weight range is 65 to 85 kg (143 to 187 lb). The glider model is DHV 2 certified.
Vulcan M
Medium-small-sized model for medium-weight pilots. Its 12.09 m (39.7 ft) span wing has a wing area of 26.89 m2 (289.4 sq ft), 56 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.4:1. The take-off weight range is 80 to 100 kg (176 to 220 lb). The glider model is DHV 2 certified.
Vulcan L
Large-sized model for heavier pilots. Its 12.57 m (41.2 ft) span wing has a wing area of 29.08 m2 (313.0 sq ft), 56 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.4:1. The take-off weight range is 95 to 115 kg (209 to 254 lb). The glider model is DHV 2 certified.
Vulcan XL
Extra large-sized model for much heavier pilots. Its 13.14 m (43.1 ft) span wing has a wing area of 32 m2 (340 sq ft), 56 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.4:1. The take-off weight range is 110 to 135 kg (243 to 298 lb). The glider model is DHV 2 certified.
