The company was founded in 1916 by Jacob and Louis Weinberg. The company names Clark Gable, Cary Grant, Walt Disney and Joe DiMaggio as among its customers.

The company was purchased by Spencer Hays in 1994.

Awards and honors

In 2001, Forbes magazine rated Oxxford the best American suit.
