Over 10% of the students receive special services, a high number by state standards. Over 32% of the students receive free or reduced meals, also a high number.

As of 2006, the majority of the students, 58%, are African-American, 17% Caucasian, 16 Hispanic, 6% Asian/Pacific Islander, and less than 1% are Native American.

The results of High School Assessments are mixed, but mostly poor results. Only 38.5% passed the Algebra test, 62.% for Biology, 70.3% for Government, and 57.7% for English.

The student body makeup is 53 percent male and 47 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 78 percent.
