Academics

The school was awarded the National Blue Ribbon School of excellence by the U.S. Department of Education in 2004, an award that only private schools scoring in the top 10% receive. In 2014, scores remained above the top 10%, with fifth graders scoring at the 95th percentile in math.

After-school activities

Our Savior's Lutheran School after-school programs include chess, art, basketball, golf, study hall, individual tutoring, and day care.

Student activities

In third grade, students participate in a one-day field trip learning about early life in Orange County. In the fourth grade, students spend a night on the Ocean Institute's sailing ship Pilgrim, and participate in the Dana Point Marine Institute's Time Capsule overnight trip. Fifth grade students have two overnight trips, one to Astro Camp's Outdoor Science School and then three days on Catalina Island.

Each year all fifth grade students complete a National History Day Project. Every March, Our Savior's celebrates Lutheran Schools Week with special activities to honor the 500-year history of Lutheran schools. Field day is held in late May, where students spend the day participating in a variety of physical games and challenges.
