Honigschmid studied at the gymnasium in Olomouc, then at the Charles University in Prague under the guidance of Guido Goldschmiedt (the discoverer of the structure of papaverine).

Work

Honigschmid worked in Paris under Henri Moissan (1904–06) and at Harvard University under Theodore Richards. He was habilitated in 1908. After 1911 he was professor of inorganic and analytical chemistry at the Prague Polytechnic University, and after World War I at the University of Munich. He specialised in research on carbides, silicates and measurement of atomic mass.
