History

In 1875, Oslo Commerce School (Oslo Handelsgymnasium) was founded, the first business education institution in Norway. In response to societal and industrial developments in Norway during the 1950s and 1960s, the school started working to expand its business education to college level: Oslo College of Business and Economics (Økonomisk College) was established in 1970 and offered a two-year undergraduate business degree from 1971. From 1977, the College offered a three-year program with specialization in Accounting and Auditing. From 1987, the College offered a three-year program with specialization in International Business.

In 1994, Oslo College of Business and Economics was moved from Oslo Commerce School, and instead incorporated as the business school of the newly formed Oslo University College (HiO). HiO then merged with Akershus University College (HiAK) in 2011 to form Oslo and Akershus University College (HiOA).

The school offered a Master’s degree in Business Administration (siviløkonom) from 2012.
