Oshkosh West High School is a public high school in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and part of the Oshkosh Area School District. As of 2016, the school has 1,650 students in grades 9 through 12. Originally known as Oshkosh High School when the building was opened in 1961, its name was changed when Oshkosh North High School was built in 1972. In 2003, Oshkosh West High School restructured its classes to create "Smaller Learning Communities" (SLC), where students learn within a smaller set of the school population. In achieving SLC, West phased in "freshman core teams", where freshman students are assigned to classes within groups so that all the students in a core team have the same teachers for their core subjects.
